Reducto alternative for PDF parsing at a flat price per page
PdfParse is a Reducto alternative for AI and backend engineers who need structured PDF extraction, JSON, Markdown and CSV in one call, and a predictable monthly bill. Every page counts once, without mode multipliers. Growth adds schemas with field confidence and source pages. Reducto remains cheaper for Parse alone, especially with batch pricing. Compare the extraction work your application needs before choosing between a page allowance and usage billing.
Parse your own PDF before you switch
Start with a PDF your application struggles to use. Inspect the fields, document text and tables together. A clean Markdown preview does not tell you whether a missing value or broken table makes the result unusable downstream. Check the outputs against the source document before writing integration code.
The browser preview is a starting point. Use your own documents for an API evaluation that includes structured extraction and the controls your production pipeline requires.

Reducto and PdfParse side by side
If you search for a Reducto AI alternative, begin with the endpoint you use today. Reducto prices Parse, Extract and Deep Extract separately. PdfParse uses subscription page allowances, with JSON, Markdown and CSV included in the same call on every plan. Custom field schemas start on Growth.
| What matters | Reducto | PdfParse |
|---|---|---|
| Billing model | Standard is pay as you go with no subscription | Fixed subscription with a monthly page allowance and no mode multipliers |
| Parsing rate | r-1 Parse costs $10 per 1,000 pages, or $0.01 per page | Growth billed yearly is about $0.0106 per page at full use, calculated as $74 / 7,000 |
| Structured extraction | Extract costs $20 per 1,000 pages; agentic Deep Extract costs $40 | Growth includes up to 10 schemas with confidence and source page; Scale has unlimited schemas |
| Output bundle | Compare your required endpoint and output contract | JSON, Markdown and CSV in one call on every plan |
| Batch processing | Parse and Extract list rates fall by 20% with batch processing | Growth and above include batch jobs of up to 500 files |
| Starting access | Standard includes $150 in free usage, 200 concurrent pages and up to 5 Studio seats | Page one browser preview without a card; ongoing API usage requires a subscription |
| Retention | Growth adds a Zero Data Retention agreement | Starter retains files for 7 days; Growth offers up to 30 days; Scale and Enterprise offer zero retention mode |
| Residency and deployment | Growth adds EU and AU endpoints; Enterprise adds VPC and on-prem deployment | Enterprise offers an EU or US processing region |
| Specialized operations | Split, Classify and Edit endpoints; Standard handles 30+ file types | PDF extraction with schemas, RAG chunks and signed webhooks from Growth |
Reducto is a trademark of its owner; pricing here reflects its public pricing page at reducto.ai/pricing, checked in October 2026. PdfParse has no affiliation with Reducto.
Reducto's other list rates per 1,000 pages are $20 for Split, $7.50 for Classify and $60 for Edit. Its custom priced Growth plan adds volume discounts and priority support alongside its agreements and residency options. Enterprise adds SSO and SAML, RBAC and a custom SLA. Those capabilities can outweigh the billing differences for your application.
What 5,000 pages a month cost
This example compares list rates for a monthly workload of 5,000 pages. Reducto rows show the named operation alone, before free usage, batch discounts or negotiated pricing. PdfParse rows show the Growth subscription, including structured schemas and all three output formats within its allowance. These are cost comparisons, not claims of identical extraction results.
| Service and operation | Cost for 5,000 pages a month | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reducto r-1 Parse only | $50 | 5,000 pages at $0.01 per page |
| Reducto Extract | $100 | 5,000 pages at $0.02 per page |
| Reducto Deep Extract | $200 | 5,000 pages at $0.04 per page |
| PdfParse Growth billed monthly | $149 | Subscription includes 7,000 pages per month |
| PdfParse Growth billed yearly | $74 monthly equivalent | Annual subscription includes 7,000 pages per month |
Reducto Parse is cheaper in this example. Reducto Extract also costs less than Growth billed monthly, while Growth billed yearly costs less than either extraction row. Deep Extract costs more than either Growth billing option. Reducto batch Parse costs $0.008 per page and is cheaper still; Extract also receives the batch discount. Include that discount when batch processing fits your workflow.
The approximate $0.0106 Growth rate applies at full use of 7,000 pages, not at the example's 5,000 pages. Unused capacity raises your effective cost. The yearly option also requires an annual subscription, so compare both the monthly equivalent and the commitment your team accepts.
What makes switching worth evaluating
A fixed subscription helps when document volume is predictable and several parts of your application consume the same PDF. PdfParse's main appeal is the combination of outputs and extraction features inside a page allowance. Test whether that combination replaces real work in your pipeline.
- Keep application data and model context together. Use JSON for application logic, Markdown for prompts or retrieval, and CSV for tables from the same parse call. You do not need separate calls just to request these formats.
- Budget with page volume. One page is one page, including scans, without mode multipliers. Estimate your required allowance from actual traffic and choose the billing term explicitly. A subscription still needs enough useful volume to justify its price.
- Review extracted fields against the source. Growth schemas return confidence and a source page with each field. Use those signals to decide what needs review rather than treating every extracted value as equally trustworthy.
- Handle asynchronous document work. Growth includes signed webhooks, batch processing and RAG chunks. Keep your existing job tracking and retrieval code while you evaluate how the returned data fits those interfaces.
- Match retention to the workload. Files are never used to train models. Choose Growth retention up to 30 days or zero retention mode on Scale and Enterprise. Confirm your required processing region separately when evaluating Enterprise.
How to evaluate a move from Reducto
Keep the evaluation close to your application's actual behavior. A document that looks readable in a preview can still fail a field validation or lose table relationships. Compare results where your software consumes them, including the review process for uncertain values.
-
1
Identify the Reducto operation your current workload uses. Separate Parse, Extract and Deep Extract costs in your estimate. Include any Split, Classify or Edit work you still require after a parser change.
-
2
Put POST /v1/parse behind your existing ingestion interface. The Python and Node SDKs give your backend a way to request JSON, Markdown and CSV without changing every downstream consumer at once.
-
3
Define your required fields with POST /v1/schemas on Growth or above. Map returned values, confidence and source pages into your application. Check missing fields and ambiguous values against your own validation rules.
-
4
Compare Markdown structure and CSV tables alongside the extracted fields. For retrieval, evaluate Growth's RAG chunks against the context your application needs. Keep document identifiers connected to the results throughout the comparison.
-
5
Adapt your completion handler for signed webhooks on Growth or above. Verify signatures and map the payload before routing production jobs to it. Use batch jobs when your documents arrive as a backlog.
-
6
Review output quality, billed pages and unused allowance together. Keep Reducto operations that your workflow still needs, and account for their cost when deciding whether a partial migration makes sense.
Request three outputs in Python
Use the Python SDK to make the parsing call, then route each output to its consumer. This example requests the output bundle and prints the Markdown. Read the API key from your runtime environment instead of putting a credential in source code.
The output request does not define a custom field schema. Create schemas separately through POST /v1/schemas on Growth or above, then follow the API documentation for their use. Keep response mapping explicit so your application can validate fields and handle missing data.
import os
from pdfparse_ai import PdfParse
client = PdfParse(api_key=os.environ["PDFPARSE_API_KEY"])
result = client.parse("document.pdf", outputs=["json", "markdown", "csv"])
print(result.markdown)
When Reducto is the better pick
Reducto is the better pick when its deployment options, operations or usage billing match requirements that matter more than a bundled PDF workflow. Keep those requirements in the decision even when a PdfParse subscription looks attractive.
- You need a HIPAA BAA. Reducto lists a Business Associate Agreement on Growth. PdfParse does not offer a BAA on its plans, so it is not a substitute for that contractual requirement.
- You require VPC or on-prem deployment. Reducto Enterprise adds those options. Treat deployment requirements as a purchasing constraint before comparing extraction prices.
- You need EU or AU residency endpoints on Growth. Reducto lists both. PdfParse offers an EU or US processing region on Enterprise, which is a different plan and regional choice.
- Your workflow depends on Split, Classify or Edit, or Standard's coverage of 30+ file types. Check those operations and formats before replacing a working document pipeline with a PDF focused service.
- You want usage billing without a subscription, or only need Parse. Reducto's $0.01 Parse rate is slightly below Growth's fully used yearly rate, and its $0.008 batch Parse rate is lower again. Irregular volume can also favor usage billing.
Choose a plan for your monthly PDF volume
Every plan includes JSON, Markdown and CSV in one call. Choose Growth or above for schemas, RAG chunks, signed webhooks and batch jobs. The yearly prices below are monthly equivalents of an annual subscription.
| Plan | Yearly billing | Monthly billing | Pages per month | Fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $24 per month | $49 per month | 2,000 | Standard outputs with 7 day retention |
| Growth | $74 per month | $149 per month | 7,000 | Up to 10 schemas and retention up to 30 days |
| Scale | $249 per month | $499 per month | 24,000 | Unlimited schemas and zero retention mode |
| Enterprise | $749 per month | $1,499 per month | 72,000 | An EU or US processing region and zero retention mode |
Review PDF extraction API pricing against your expected volume. A fixed bill buys a defined allowance. It does not make unused pages free or make every workload cheaper than Reducto. Choose the plan whose features and capacity you actually use.
- Starter 2,000 pages, 1 API key, 1 seat $49 per month $24 per month, $288 billed yearly
- Growth 7,000 pages, 5 API keys, 3 seats $149 per month $74 per month, $888 billed yearly
- Scale 24,000 pages, 20 API keys, 10 seats $499 per month $249 per month, $2,988 billed yearly
- Enterprise 72,000 pages, unlimited API keys with per key limits, 25 seats $1,499 per month $749 per month, $8,988 billed yearly
FAQ
What is the best alternative to Reducto
PdfParse is a strong Reducto alternative when you need structured PDF fields, JSON, Markdown and CSV together, and a predictable subscription bill. Growth includes schemas with confidence and source pages. Reducto is a better fit when you need a HIPAA BAA, VPC or on-prem deployment, specialized document operations, or cheaper Parse only usage.
How much does Reducto cost per page
Reducto lists r-1 Parse at $0.01 per page, Extract at $0.02 and agentic Deep Extract at $0.04. These are Standard list rates derived from prices per 1,000 pages. Batch processing discounts Parse and Extract by 20%. Growth has custom pricing with volume discounts, so compare the operation and agreement your workload actually uses.
Is Reducto free
Reducto Standard includes $150 in free usage and then uses pay as you go billing. That credit is not a promise of unlimited free parsing, and different operations have different page rates. PdfParse offers a page one browser preview without a card; ongoing API use requires a monthly or yearly subscription.
Is Reducto HIPAA compliant
Reducto lists a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement on its Growth plan. Confirm the agreement and your intended workflow with Reducto before processing protected health information. PdfParse does not offer a BAA on its plans. Check the security page for its controls and requirements; this comparison does not claim that PdfParse is HIPAA compliant.
Is PdfParse cheaper than Reducto
PdfParse can cost less for structured extraction, depending on volume and billing term. At 5,000 pages, Growth is $149 monthly or $74 monthly equivalent billed yearly, versus Reducto Extract at $100 or Deep Extract at $200 before discounts. Reducto Parse costs $50 for that workload and is cheaper. Include batch discounts and unused subscription capacity.
